JOURNAL: April 20, 2002 -
Dear Dad,
What a great day! The sun is out, the people are out!
Well its been one year today since you left dad. Today your son and grandson Max sit in the shadow of the IMF banks in Washington, D.C. and watch the corporate machine eat away at its lunch. What's for dinner? Ecuador?
Max and I marched with 50,000 some odd other citizens of the world today. We did so in honor of you and for the cause of supporting the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza who are being brutalized by Sharon and the Israeli government.
We marched with them, among them, in the shadow of the Washington monument, I scattered some of your ashes as I walked with the rest of humanity joined in protest.
One guy walked up to me and asked "what are your doing?" I said I am spreading the ashes of my father who was a 60's revolutionary. I was met with a "far out man" response and a smile and gleaming nod from him. We marched on.
Had a nice meet with your old friend B at the Library of Congress where we spread some more of your ashes on the steps and in the grass to symbolize your love of ideas and to symbolize growth. B is a good man and freind, you pick them well.
Still working on the meaning of things, your leaving, your influence, your work… I will let you know when I figure it out.

With Love,
Steve
