I still run into people who knew you

Dear Dad,
Today is your birthday. I still run into people who knew you and those whom you have effected their lives in a good way. Like I have always told you, you have done a lot of good for a lot of people, and it shows.
I think of your life of ideas and conversation and the gifts you have given me. For some reason I remember your loving smile the most. I think of you now as smiling and waiving good-bye, turning a walking away. Your time is done here and now history is taking over. You now join the legions of fathers that have gone before you, leaving behind only the message you gave, and of course your family and community.
Boy I sure miss you, you were a great friend and father. I know you now have the answers to the questions of life. Rest, enjoy the peace of eternity. Someday I will see you again dad.
