Though we haven't had the pleasure of meeting, I wanted to reach out to you with heartfelt appreciation. Your father played a pivotal role in the life and writing journey of my dearest friend, Rebecca "Becky" Lincoln, a former UofB student, late 80's- a year or 2 in 90's). We sadly lost Becky a year and a half ago due to complications from her type 1 diabetes. In the 30 years I knew her, she asked me to honor two of her wishes: to donate her body to science, which we did through the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and to publish her book. As I've been going through her extensive writings, I discovered a book outline dedicated to your father, whom Becky fondly referred to as a "modern-day Socrates." She expressed her gratitude for his encouragement to ponder, explore, and live life fully. It is my intention to uphold Becky's dedication to Professor Powell by publishing her book. It may not be a bestseller, but it will be a collection of writings that, thanks to his inspiration, she created and entrusted me to share. She may never have had the chance to thank him properly, but she knew I would. Thank you for the words and wisdom she left us to share.
