I'm starting to write a book about Jewett, and ultimately about Dad. There's really two books in here. One from the angle of being a kid growing up in the house during "the sixties" told from the perspective of a 14 year old, or thereabouts. There are lots of funny stories, such as getting waylaid from Mom's car on the way to my 8th grade dance by running into Dad and Stuart Whitney at Main and Bailey, and ending up the next morning at huge black panther rally at Yale on May Day 1970. Or being sent off on my own to protest at the White House with Harry Davis and Ken Sherman and his group... me, I was not being old enough to get arrested and returned to the Church rallying point with Harry who at the time didn't want to get arrested. Or just stories of life around 124 Jewett, like when DAd was in his Brown Rice Phase and all we could eat was that... so Bill McGregor, Stephen and I would take clandestine trips to McDonalds. Anyway, lots of interesting stories surrounding a kid in a rather unique environment. There's also a more serious project in here which is a book about Dad, a more serious biography that deserves to be told by an adult, from a more historical point of view. That book would probably end up being a collaboration with Stephen, he's got the historical genius in the family. However both of these projects would greatly benefit from discussions with Dad's friends. I do not know if I have as many email addresses as I need, and I'd love to be able to interview, by phone or in person, people who'd like to contribute their memories of Dad to these projects. Certainly I would like to talk to anyone who's posted messages in here. So if you'd like to help out, could you please email me at: jpowell@maui.net? Thank you so much. Aloha, Jim Powell
