I remember going to class the first day and Ed telling us the only grade we would recieve would be based on a "Sociological Autobiography," what in the world is that I asked myself? My second question was how long does this book have to be? The answer to the first question was "what ever you want it to be" and the second was, "the book could be anywhere from 1-1500 pages." I just remember thinking I am really going to dislike this class. Being a person who really thinks their grades are important I was terrified that I was going to fail. I had never failed before. After attending a few classes I began to form my book. I would meet with Ed on a regular basis just to discuss life. This class began to grow on me. I am a graduating senior this year, and when I think back to my time spent in college I realized what a great teacher, advisor, and most of all friend Ed Powell was. He taught me more than any other professor I have had. I didn't learn about theory, math, science, or psychology instead I learned about myself and life.

Ed, you will forever be in my heart and thoughts. I am sure you have no idea how many lives, including mine, you have touched! Sleep peacefully.
