What does one say about this man after meeting him but a few times? Ed's son Jim and his daughter-in-law Debbie had somewhat prepared me before he came to visit, but sitting with him was not to be prepared for. He was bigger. And so was I, by just being there! I guess if I was to try to pin it down, that was what stood out about Dr. Powell. He had a way of making me seem to be the most important part of the moment. It was if he had been waiting there just to hear what I had come to share with him. And that this information was relevant and valuable to the world. I had been at a given level when I first arrived, but when I left I was at a significantly higher elevation of thought. I bet he was like that to everyone he was with, including those who sent him to jail.
We and the world will miss him, yet he might wish that we continue the good fight because it is the right thing to do. Aloha nui loa, Ed. We are better for having been near you....
