Thank you Paul. Yes, I had a similar experience with the same book... I was ten thousand miles away on the South Island of New Zealand and my wife and I stopped in at a little coffee shop and while we were waiting I browsed the bookshelf and found this book, opening up to the inside cover was dad's quot that you cited above; what an awesome moment for me to see how one life could touch so many people so far away, and even now five years beyond his passing, he touches people still. Today, November 18th is his birthday. You ask about "Elwin"; he was born Elwin Humpreys Powell, November 18th, what... 1925? His Grandfather "Other Daddy" was Elwin Humpreys Sr. and Dad's beloved Uncle.... "Uncle Bubba" was Elwin Humphresy Jr. Two monumental figures in Dad's life. Dad grew up in west texas like so many with a two letter moniker, his was "EH" and that was the name that stuck with him until he left and recast himself as "Ed Powell". I logged into this website tonight (it's still November 18th here in Hawaii) to post something for Dad's birthday, but I didn't know what I was going to say. Your comments brough a smile to my face and contentment to my heart. Thanks Paul. Aloha, Jim James Elwin Powell
